The Sanibel Music Festival will present Opera Theater of Connecticut’s program “Singing Sondheim on Sanibel” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, at the Sanibel Congregational U.C.C., 2050 Periwinkle Way.

Stephen Sondheim is described by Frank Rich of the New York Times as “the greatest and perhaps best-known artist in American Music Theater.” He is the recipient of a Pulitzer Prize, eight Tony Awards, eight Grammys, a Presidential Medal of Freedom and a Broadway theater named in his honor. The Opera Theater of Connecticut’s professional singers will perform an exciting selection of pieces from his acclaimed shows, including Sweeney Todd, Follies, Into the Woods, A Little Night Music, Merrily We Roll Along and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. The Sanibel Music Festival, celebrating its 33rd season, presents world renowned artists during the month of March at the Congregational church on Sanibel Island. Incorporated in 1987 as a non-for-profit organization, its mission is to present classical music of the highest standard at affordable prices and to promote the careers of young artists through performance opportunities.
