Sanibel Captiva Art League member Rita Mach Skoczen is currently exhibiting her art throughout January at the Sanibel Captiva Community Bank.

A resident of Sanibel for more than 30 years, and a former resident of Rochester Hills, Mich., Skoczen is well known for her portraiture and award-winning paintings. Her most prestigious award was first place in the Arts For The Parks national competition for her depiction of a part of the Vietnam War Memorial entitled "Remembrance." Skoczen enjoys different mediums and subjects, but a major part of her work revolves around people and faces.

The Sanibel Captiva Community Bank is a strong supporter of local arts. The public is invited to join Skoczen and talk art at her reception from 4:15 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17 at the bank, 2475 Library Way, Sanibel. Light snacks and refreshments will be served. Mark the calendar to meet and celebrate with award-winning local artist Rita Skoczen.
