2018 went by in a flash. No sooner were we putting the Holiday decorations away, then we were viewing the Sanibel 4th of July parade. A blink later it was Thanksgiving. Real estate on the islands was sort of like that as well.

2018 was a very active year with 456 closed sales, on Sanibel and Captiva islands, in all categories of property. This is more than a 14% increase from the 399 total in 2017. No wonder it felt busy!

Now is the time when the most new listings come on the market. We have seen the historically low inventory in 2017 grow weekly to our current figures listed above. If 2019 is anything like 2018, the current inventory of houses and condos on Sanibel will likely be sold within the year. Captiva inventory may take a bit longer.

Without a doubt we had a strong 2018 Real Estate market on Sanibel and Captiva and early indications are that we will have a good to very good 2019.
