The Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club is a Gold Sponsor of the 10th Annual 10K Race 4 F.I.S.H., which draws hundreds of runners from near and far to Sanibel and is the only foot race on the island.

Our local Rotary Club has been serving its community proudly for more than 35 years, by raising funds to support worthy causes,” said Club President John Danner. Throughout the years, Rotarians have supported various organizations such as F.I.S.H.

The club distributes annual scholarships for local youth, as well as support the Blessings in a Backpack program. It also supports the Rotary Annual Dictionary Day, when every third-grade student at Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel schools receive a dictionary passed to them by a Sanibel-Captiva Rotarian.

Its annual Arts & Crafts Fair, held over President's Day weekend, features more than 120 of the country's most talented artists. What began as a humble pancake breakfast featuring a few local artists more than 30 years ago has grown into one of Southwest Florida's premier juried art shows and the club's primary fundraiser.

We value the continued support of our islands' Rotary Club,” said Ed Ridlehoover, 10K race committee co-chair. “The club not only raises funds for worthy causes, but its members donate their time in service to their community.”

Anyone interested in becoming a Rotarian is welcome to visit a weekly Friday morning breakfast, where there is always an interesting guest speaker, held at The Dunes Golf & Tennis Club. For more information on the club, visit

Race day is Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Sanibel Community House. Registration is open at under “Our Major Events” tab. Runners receive a T-shirt and medallion. Awards are presented for each category.
