The Sanibel Community Church continues its Gold Sponsorship of the 10K Race 4 F.I.S.H., an island foot race that draws hundreds of runners from near and far for a worthy cause. Race proceeds benefit the non-profit organization that provides valuable human services to those in our community who need a lending hand.

Sanibel Community Church first sponsored the 10K race five years ago – although it is a partnership the two developed more than a decade ago over a fish fry. “People like the church's congregation make it possible for F.I.S.H. to continue helping our neighbors in need,” said Ed Ridlehoover, race committee co-chair. “We are grateful for their support.”

S.C.C. was founded a century ago as a non-denominational church under the belief that would best serve the islands – making 'Community' its middle name. The congregation remains dedicated to the community and is delight to have F.I.S.H. as a neighbor. “We love how F.I.S.H. is a pooling place where all of the churches can partner in lending support for the needs of our community,” said Senior Pastor Dr. Daryl Donovan.

The Sanibel Community Church, 1740 Periwinkle Way, offers diverse opportunities of worship:

8 a.m. - Traditional service in the historic chapel with communion as the focus

9 a.m. - Contemporary service with full praise band

11 a.m. – The powerful church organ fills the air with traditional hymns of praise

A strong Biblical message of encouragement and hope is preached each Sunday. “Sanibel Community Church is a non-denominational evangelical congregation with a passion to serve and to proclaim God's extravagant mercy and love,” said Pastor Donovan. All are welcome to worship.

The 10K Race 4 F.I.S.H. is Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Sanibel Community House.
