Noah’s Ark, the popular island thrift shop and charitable outreach program of St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church, is accepting donations again, to prepare for its season reopening on Tuesday, October 2. The shop remains closed to shoppers throughout September.

Donations can be left any time at the shop’s loading dock, located behind the church at 2304 Periwinkle Way. Furniture donations must have the approval of the furniture chair. Items should be clean and in good condition.

During October, store hours are Tuesdays and Fridays, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. From November to the end of May, the winter season’s full operating schedule resumes, Monday through Friday and the first Saturday of each month, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Noah’s Ark volunteer Susie Scutakes reports that the Ark’s loading dock fills every day with donated goods. “We have some wonderful items ready to be taken home. Our island neighbors have been very generous with their lightly used possessions. This will be one of our best years ever.”

The Ark offers for sale, at bargain prices, merchandise of all kinds, including women’s and men’s apparel, children’s clothes, bedding, bicycles and sports equipment, kitchen goods and housewares, furniture and home furnishings, and a varied selection of books—including excellent vacation reading—in its own special book station, “Barnes and Noah.”

In operation for more than 50 years, Noah’s Ark is run by the Women of St. Michael’s. Outreach support to those in need continues to be a priority for the church. Proceeds from Ark sales, coupled with monies from the parish's annual budget, go to more than 25 local, regional and global charities.

The Ark volunteers and St. Michael & All Angels Church extend heartfelt thanks to all donors and customers who make the Ark’s charitable mission a continuing success.
