As Sanibel Public Library continues the next phase of “Your Library Reimagined” remodel project, parts of the Library are being renovated as the facility is open for normal operating hours. Popular services like printers, high speed WiFi, newspapers, puzzle table, and the Reading Porch are available.

The Library is offering a new service to cardholders, called Freegal music. Freegal offers access to about 15 million songs, from artists from Bruce Springsteen to Leonard Bernstein. Download up to three songs or videos per week using your Library card. If you need help with any of the services offered on the eShelf, call the Library at

Weekly Youth Events run Oct. 26 through Nov. 15:
Geared specifically for children in fourth through sixth grade, the “After-school Clique” will meet on Tuesdays at 3 p.m. The group will be crafting, building, making, and playing—with books and a snack.

Family Storytime for preschoolers and their caregivers will be held on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. and repeated at 11 a.m. on Thursdays. This program helps develop pre-reading skills through songs and stories.

The “After-School Crew,” (for children in Kindergarten to third grades) will meet at 3 p.m. on Thursdays. Favorite books, never-knew-existed books, games, crafts, plus snack provided.

If you love dogs and books, you might enjoy reading to Bessie, a bearded collie and Reading Education Assistance Dog. At 3:45 p.m. on rain-free Thursday afternoons, kids can sign-up on-the-spot, program finishes by 5 p.m.

Learn about 3D Printing with Makerbot in the ThinkTank from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26. See an object printed. Print a small object with Makerbot 3D printer. The Makerbot demo will be repeated from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30.

Stop by the SPL tech area from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Nov. 2 to test drive a virtual reality (VR) viewer. Patrons age ten and older can enjoy “Under Sea Adventure: Blue Whale Encounter and Coral Reef,” an underwater world full of sea life. Paint your own masterpiece in Google Paint. First come first serve, no registration required.

Learn about electric circuitry and build a circuit from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Nov. 6. This MakeyMakey program is for age eight and older, no registration required.
International Games Week will be celebrated at Sanibel Public Library from Nov. 5 to 8. Games, from solo to multi-player, will be set up Monday through Thursday.
