You may have collected baseball cards, but how many “seashell trading cards” do you own?

Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club member Ron Bopp will be the guest speaker at the 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, Shell Club meeting at the Bailey Matthews Shell Museum.

Bopp's presentation “Shells and Trade Cards” follows the history of seashell-related trade cards over the last century. His presentations are laced with shell cartoons and humor.

Ron is an avid shell and fossil collector. Although he began collecting only seven years ago, he has become a frequent shell show participant.

Ron and his wife Mary Jo live in Bradenton. He is a Past President of the Sarasota Shell Club where they are both are members. They are also members of the Conchologists of America and the Florida Palentologic Society.

The meeting is in Auditorium Room “A” on the main level of The Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum. Door prizes will be awarded and refreshments will be served. The meeting is open to the public.
