Sanibel Sea School’s 2018 Winter Camp programs will be all about the sun and the moon and how closely they are tied to the ocean and its creatures – join us for some celestial holiday fun! This pair of week-long camps is planned to coincide with winter break, and the schedule will offer a combination of Sanibel Sea School holiday traditions, exciting science, arts and crafts, and outdoor activities.

During Powered by the Moon Week, participants will explore gravity and tides, learn about how the lunar cycle affects various ocean inhabitants, and go moon gazing together. Powered by the Sun Week will be all about the sun’s energy and how it supports life on our planet. We’ll dive in to photosynthesis, talk about some sunbathing marine species, and even make our own solar s’mores. And that’s just a start – there are so many more surprises in store.

Of course it wouldn’t be Winter Camp without a few Sanibel Sea School traditions, so there will also be hot chocolate, ocean caroling, and the annual Give Your Worries to the Sea ceremony. Camps are open to ages 6-13, and a Counselor In Training program will also be offered for teens ages 13-18 to practice their leadership skills. Registration opens at 10 AM EST on October 20th via www.sanibelseaschool.org/sanibel-camps. Sanibel Sea School is a 501c3 nonprofit whose mission is to improve the ocean’s future, one person at a time. Please visit our website for full program details.
