A most welcome gift of $30,000 from John Madden has enabled Wildlife & Habitat Management to purchase a new truck for its monitoring of shorebirds, tortoises, frogs, sea turtles and much more.

I am extremely grateful for the beautiful new truck, as it is perfect for my daily work needs,” said Shorebird Biologist Audrey Albrecht.

I work in the field year-round on a variety of projects including but not limited to migratory shorebird surveys, shorebird nest monitoring, bald eagle nest monitoring, gopher tortoise monitoring, freshwater fish sampling, vegetation surveys, frog call surveys, sea turtle monitoring, rescue of sick and injured wildlife, and trail camera maintenance,” Albrecht said.

I need a vehicle that can fit into crowded beach parking lots during busy season but also safely traverse wet and muddy firelines out on our preserves. The new truck, which we have dubbed the Madden Mobile in John’s honor, is perfect for all these things,” she concluded.
