A bicyclist fails to stop at a stop sign and is struck by a vehicle. David Coleman, 68, was traveling east on the Shared Use Path along West Gulf Drive at 9:53 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, when a vehicle operated by Glenda Aiken, 69, struck his bicycle in the crosswalk.

Aiken was traveling south on Tarpon Bay Road when she stopped at the stop sign then proceeded to make a right turn onto West Gulf Drive. Coleman, who also had a stop sign, told police he saw Aiken’s vehicle come to a stop and thought he could cross without stopping. He suffered road rash injuries, but refused transport to the hospital for treatment. No citations were issued.

Kacie Faircloth, 16, was traveling east on Sanibel Captiva Road at 4:37 p.m. Monday, May 27, when she pulled off to the south side of the road near St. Isabel’s church to make a U-turn and the front of her vehicle struck the rear passenger side of an eastbound vehicle operated by Eric Sanders, 54, Sanibel. No injuries were reported.

Deborah Welker, 67, Fort Myers, was traveling in the parking lot of Periwinkle Place, 2075 Periwinkle Way, at 10:47 a.m. Saturday, May 25, when the front of her vehicle struck the front of a vehicle operated by Scott Weber, 51, Fort Myers. Welker told police she was blinded by the sun and did not see Weber’s vehicle. No injuries were reported.
