Sanibel City Council will consider approval of several consent agenda items, including a resolution to move forward with the rehabilitation of the city’s wastewater system, during its meeting at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4 at City Hall, 800 Dunlop Rd.

Resolution 18-089 will establish the city’s intent to reimburse certain capital expenditures with proceeds of a future tax-exempt financing in order to fully fund the wastewater system project. The city expects the total amount of incurred debt to not exceed $12.5 million.

In the November meeting, Council approved proceeding with Option 1 for the Donax Wastewater Reclamation Facility project, which addresses needed improvements to the existing process; will substantially improve removal of nitrogen and phosphorous from effluent; and increase disposal capacity to allow for an increase in the plant’s permitted capacity.

City staff will be recommending Council award the Donax Wastewater Reclamation Facility project to PWC Ventures, LLC in the amount up to $20,132,000 with funding options approved in November. Council will also consider approval of services by Tetra Tech, Inc. for design and construction in the amount of $430,000, which was included in the adopted FY 2019 budget.
