Bridget Dreher, 59, Morrow, Ohio, was traveling west on Periwinkle Way at 5:28 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, when a vehicle operated by Lyman Welch, 75, pulled into her lane of travel as he exited the parking lot of Traders restaurant, 1551 Periwinkle Way.

Following the collision, Welch safely stopped his vehicle at the intersection of Dixie Beach Boulevard. However, Dreher’s daughter Emily, who was a passenger, believed Welch was going to flee the scene so she jumped out of the vehicle to chase Welch’s vehicle for a tag number. When police arrived, Emily was observed laying on the ground and transported to Health Park for unknown injuries.

Welch was cited for failure to yield to oncoming traffic.

Other Minor Collisions

UPS driver Marquis Britton, 30, Lehigh Acres, was attempting to backup his delivery truck in the parking lot at 2959 W. Gulf Dr. at2:20 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, when it collided with a parked vehicle owned by Nancy Niesel, 73, Sanibel.

A Sanibel police officer witnessed the vehicle operated by Beau Johnson, 32, Cape Coral, strike a cement pillar at 7:08 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24 at the Speedway gas station, 2499 Palm Ridge Rd. There was minor damage to the vehicle.

Hillary Kelly, 28, Atlanta, Ga., was backing her rental vehicle out of a parking space Sunday, Jan. 20, at Bailey’s General Store, when it struck a parked rental vehicle registered to Jordan Hirsch, 39, Wellesely, Mass.
