A Minnesota man was injured in a bicycle crash Sunday, March 3 on Middle Gulf Drive near Cowry Court. John Batalden was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.

Witnesses told Sanibel Police that Batalden, who seemed confused at the scene, was traveling southeast on Middle Gulf Drive when his rented bicycle “suddenly slid out of control” and Batalden’s head struck the ground with some force, which rendered him unconscious for several minutes. Police found the roadway clear of debris and damage which could have caused the bicycle crash.

Nicole Vawter, 33, Cape Coral, was cited for following too closely after a three-vehicle crash at 1:48 p.m. Monday, March 4, on Sanibel Captiva Road. Vawter was traveling west on Sanibel Captiva Road when her vehicle struck the back of a vehicle operated by Monise Supre, 39, Lehigh Acres, which struck the back of a vehicle operated by Mary Thomas, 62, Sanibel, who was waiting to make a left turn onto Dimmick Drive.

Daryl Hofman, 47, Fort Myers, was traveling south on the C-span of the Sanibel Causeway at 10:18 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, when the back of his vehicle was struck by a vehicle operated by Holly Seamans, 21, Fort Myers.

A vehicle operated by Thomas Jennings, 78, Northfield, Ill., struck a parked vehicle registered to Daniel Mitton, 58, Cape Coral, at 11:44 a.m. Sunday, March 3, in the parking lot of Speedway gas station, 2499 Palm Ridge Rd.
