A Bonita Springs woman faces third-degree felony charges after she shoved and spit twice on a Sanibel Police officer. Michelle Rose, 48, reportedly became belligerent with officers as they were attempting to resolve an unpaid restaurant bill.

The Jac restaurant contacted police at 8:48 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, when Rose and an unknown female left the establishment without paying their bill. Officers located Rose in the parking lot of Matzaluna, but the second female had already left the area.

Rose was shouting profanity at the officers and attempted to walk away despite orders to stop. She then shoved one of the officers before spitting on him as she resisted arrest. She was charged with battery of an officer and resisting an officer with violence, as well as public intoxication, a misdemeanor.

Rose was released from the Lee County Jail Monday, Jan. 14 on a $21,000 bond. She has a court hearing scheduled for Feb. 11. A male friend of Rose paid the ladies’ tab at The Jac.
