FISH Organizes School Supplies Drive

FISH of SANCAP is preparing for its annual back to school supplies drive from July 8-22. Program director Kathy Y. Monroe says back to school shopping expenses can become quite large, especially for families with more than one child.

“We have learned that many parents struggle to pay for school supplies, along with the additional cash donations requested for reams of paper, craft supplies, planners and more,” said Monroe. “Many parents are not working as much with it being low season, which can become financially challenging.”

FISH is accepting donations of school supplies from July 8-22 at Bailey’s General Store, 2477 Periwinkle Way; CVS, 2331 Palm Ridge Rd., and at the FISH Walk-In Center, 2430 Periwinkle Way. Cash donations will also be accepted at the FISH Walk-In Center. Target gift cards and undergarments will also be included with the distribution of supplies, thanks to a partnership with Friends Who Care and Captiva Chapel by the Sea.

FISH is able to defray the cost of school clothing and supplies for 60 students in kindergarten to 12th grade with community support. For a complete list of supplies by grade, visit
