Amazon’s Alexa Finds Way Into Bicycle Helmet

Amazon’s Alexa device can be found in homes, cars and now bicycle helmets. The Safe-Tec company exhibited its new TyrPlus model of helmet that connects with Alexa during the Consumer Electronic Show from Jan. 7-10 in Las Vegas, Nev.

The TyrPlus has a headlamp, turn signals, a brake light and uses a microphone and embedded audio with a bone conductor speaker to built-in Alexa using Bluetooth. There are control buttons and the microphone on the chin strap, along with a removable turn signal controller for the handlebars.

You can make and receive calls on your smartphone, listen to music and receive voice navigation – all while keeping your hands on the handlebars. The built-in lithium battery lasts 12 hours with continuous use and recharges using a micro-USB. The TyrPlus comes in three sizes and will retail for $199.
