The Charitable Foundation of the Islands (CFI) is now accepting applications and nominations for the Leadership Sanibel-Captiva Class of 2027, an immersive leadership development program designed to connect and inspire current and emerging island leaders.
Leadership Sanibel-Captiva brings together individuals who are passionate about the future of the islands and interested in becoming more engaged in the community through volunteerism, civic involvement, board service, and leadership opportunities. Through a series of immersive sessions, participants gain a deeper understanding of the issues, organizations, businesses, and people shaping Sanibel and Captiva.
The program is intended for individuals who live, work, volunteer, or serve within the island community and who are interested in becoming future board members, committee leaders, advocates, and community champions. Participants explore topics including local government, resiliency and recovery, environmental stewardship, arts and culture, healthcare, nonprofits, tourism, and economic vitality while building meaningful relationships with fellow class members and community leaders.
“Leadership Sanibel-Captiva is designed to help cultivate informed, connected, and engaged leaders who are invested in the long-term vitality of our island community,” said Dolly Farrell. “The program creates opportunities for participants to deepen their understanding of the islands while encouraging collaboration, service, and leadership.”
Community members are encouraged to either apply directly or nominate someone they believe would be a strong fit for the program. Ideal candidates are individuals who demonstrate a commitment to the islands and a desire to become more involved in shaping the future of the community.
Please note that the program is intended for community volunteers, business leaders, and engaged residents, and is not open to nonprofit staff members at this time.
The Leadership Sanibel-Captiva Class of 2027 will begin in January 2027, with a class meet-and-greet scheduled for December 2026.
