A volunteer team from Bank of the Islands joined the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation on Nov. 2 for a new beach cleanup effort following the most recent storm damage. The bank also hosted a luncheon for all the volunteers engaged in the cleanup efforts.
“In the aftermath of Hurricane Milton, the City of Sanibel asked SCCF to conduct a second cleanup effort following its annual International Coastal Cleanup event in September. Of course, SCCF couldn’t say no, and neither could Bank of the Islands,” said Bank President Robbie Roepstorff.
“It means so much to help our island community in any way we can as we recover from the one-two punch of Helene and Milton. We thank our neighbors and customers who joined us for a morning of good work and a lunch of good eating,” said Roepstorff.
The bank also underwrote a volunteer lunch at SCCF’s Bailey Homestead Pavilion, and Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille provided the catering. The cleanup and lunch kicked off the “Love Sanibel Back Weekend” that concluded with a celebration at the Sanibel Community House the next day.
