Bank of the Islands recently made two gifts to foster attendance at island events recognizing the 25th anniversary of 9/11. The first is a BIG ARTS presentation on Sept. 10 by Sanibel City Councilman John Henshaw. In his capacity as the Assistant Secretary of Labor for OSHA (the Occupational Safety and Health Administration), Henshaw served at Ground Zero in the aftermath of the terrorist attack.
The second is the Field of Heroes installation, organized by the City of Sanibel, at Sanibel Community Park. Composed of 2,977 American flags, the memorial installation will begin on Sept. 1 and remain through September 11. It will culminate in a “Waves of Remembrance: 9/11 Morning of Reflection” event at the Sanibel Community House at 8 a.m. on the anniversary.
“The City of Sanibel and BIG ARTS have worked so thoughtfully with Councilmember Henshaw and the Tunnels to Towers Foundation to bring meaningful 25th anniversary observances to Sanibel,” said Bank of the Islands CEO Geoffrey Roepstorff. “Our Bank
wanted to help bring this national time of reflection to our island community.”
