The Children’s Education Center of the Islands kicked off its 50th anniversary with a community day. The campus welcomed the community back to see the changes since Hurricane Ian struck in September 2022 and learn about future plans to make the school more resilient for the future.

Families and community members enjoyed free food, face painting, games, crafts and access to the school’s huge playground. Additionally, the school raised more than $2,000 in a silent gift basket auction featuring items from local businesses such as MacIntosh Books & Paper, Rachel Pierce Gallery, Nanny’s of Sanibel and Tarpon Bay Explorers.
