A group of 16 enthusiastic 2 to 4 year-old students, the youngest Adopt-a-Mangrove participants to date, gathered to plant mangroves in beautifully decorated pots. The day aimed to educate the students about the importance of mangrove forests, shedding light on the vital ecosystem they provide for manatees, birds and various other species living in Southwest Florida.
Under the careful guidance of Mrs. Sherry, the students will assume the role of caretakers for 20 seedlings throughout the spring season. This hands-on experience fosters a sense of environmental responsibility and establishes a connection between the next generation and the preservation of our precious ecosystem.
Coastal Watch applauds the commitment of the CECI students and looks forward to continued collaboration in nurturing a love for nature and environmental conservation among our youngest community members.
