Sanibel Captiva Business Women’s Association will hold its first luncheon of the new year on Tuesday, Jan. 16 from 11:30 am to 1 p.m. at Timbers Restaurant. And the first speaker of 2024 will be Charitable Foundation of the Islands Executive Director Dolly Farrell, who will speak about the organization and how the women of SCBWA can become involved.
Farrell joined CFI in October 2022, as the organization’s first executive director, after working nine years at Florida Gulf Coast University Foundation. Farrell earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Loyola University of MD in 1998 and a Master of Public Administration from Appalachian State University in 2006.
She said she looks forward to speaking with the group. “I hope the women of SCBWA will connect with CFI’s mission and also identify some concrete ways they can join us in inspiring philanthropy, leadership, and collaboration for the vitality of the Island community.”
The mission of the CFI is to inspire philanthropy, leadership, and collaboration for the vitality of the Island community. CFI has served the Sanibel and Captiva communities since the 1990s through the Francis Bailey Society and was officially incorporated as a 501(c)(3) organization in 2011. SCBWA is dedicated to empowering and supporting the women who work and live on the islands through networking, mentorship, continuing education and career advancement. SCBWA aims to serve the community by offering an inclusive, supportive and diverse group of women supporting women.
Its focus is the advancement of women’s career development targeted to workers, aspiring workers and the residents of Sanibel and Captiva. The group meets at noon on every third Tuesday of the month at various businesses and restaurants. Registration is required on Eventbrite.
