As an emergency informational measure relating to island businesses and the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sanibel & Captiva Islands Chamber of Commerce will host a free, Zoom-platform virtual meeting on Monday, April 6, at 2 p.m. with Sanibel mayor Kevin Ruane and director of the Lee County Economic Development Office, John Talmage.

“Our speakers were eager to hold this meeting as soon as possible to discuss impacts on the business community and opportunities during this unprecedented event,” said John Lai, chamber president and chief executive office. “There will be opportunity for questions and discussion through the moderator.”

Talmage asked to join the meeting to update the community on where island businesses stand from the county’s economic perspective and to offer insight on the CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) Act, Lai added.

The chamber has sent members a Zoom invitation to register for the virtual event. Members must RSVP by 5 p.m. on Friday, April 3, to receive a link to the Zoom meeting in advance. During the meeting, questions must be submitted through the chat feature. At the end of the speaker discussions, the moderator will present the questions to the speakers.

If you have any questions about the meeting or Zoom app, contact Ashley Pignato at ashley@sanibel-captiva.org.
