Chapel by the Sea Hosting Community Carol Sing This Weekend

provided to The Santiva Chronicle

The historic Captiva Chapel by the Sea will host its 12th annual Community Carol Sing from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17 at the chapel, 11580 Chapin Lane.

Residents and visitors to the islands are welcome to attend this free event and sing-along to seasonal selections from “Jingle Bells” to “Oh Holy Night” and “Joy to the World” in an intimate, casual setting. The iconic Christmas lights in the Chapel yard will add to the festive atmosphere of the evening.

Rev. Doug Dortch will emcee the evening and Chapel organist, Lynne Dugan, will lead the music. Special appearances by the Sanibel School Elementary Choir and a Big Arts Community Chorus ensemble will highlight the program.

“We had to skip this popular annual tradition in 2022 due to Hurricane Ian,” Chapel Board member Nathalie Pyle says. “We are pleased to be able to bring the community together again to enjoy sharing songs of the season. Audience participation will be the focus of our time together.”

Ample outside seating is available in addition to seating inside the chapel. For more information check the chapel website here, or call 239-292-1284.
