The Charitable Foundation of the Islands (CFI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Chauncey Goss to the Board. Chauncey Goss has a long history on Sanibel and grew up on island in the 1970’s and ‘80’s. He currently resides there with his wife, Allison. They have three sons.

He founded and is currently the managing partner of Goss Practical Solutions, a firm that provides federal fiscal policy analysis and budget forecasting to their clients. Prior to starting the firm, Goss worked on Capitol Hill, where he served as Deputy Staff Director and Director of Budget Review for the House Budget Committee in Washington, DC. He has also worked for the Executive Office of the President in the Office of Management and Budget’s National Security Division, and as a contracted strategic planner for the Air Force, Navy and intelligence community. He received a B.A. from Rollins College and a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from Georgetown University.

As a longtime South Florida resident, Goss makes it a point to stay involved in his community. He is a member of the Sanibel Captiva Kiwanis as well as the Sanibel Community Church. He also has a long history of public service. In the past he has served on the Sanibel City Council and has been a board member of the Sanibel Community Association, the Ding Darling Wildlife Society, the Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation, and the Lee Coast MOAA Foundation. In 2019 he was appointed by the Governor to the Governing Board of the South Florida Water Management District and was reappointed in 2023. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Canterbury School, where he has served as Board Chair, as well as the Board of Directors of Captains for Clean Water (where he is Treasurer), the United Way, and the Community Foundation of Southwest Florida. He is also a trustee of the Lee County Electric Cooperative.

“CFI seeks to strengthen the quality of life for those who live and work on Sanibel and Captiva and we are excited to now have Chauncey on the board. His vast array of experience and his history of public service in the Sanibel/Captiva community will make him a huge asset as we work hard to accomplish our mission,” said Dolly Farrell, Executive Director.

“CFI has always been on my radar as an organization impacting the entire island community. I look forward to joining the Board and working collaboratively with the other members, the nonprofit partners, and the community at large,” Goss said. “We have work to do and CFI has well-established relationships, and the ability to propel the recovery process forward.”
