Community Housing & Resources announced that its board of directors elected four people to officer roles and welcomed two new members. Erika Steiner was elected board president; Bob Miller, vice president; Robert Monk, Esq., secretary; and Clair Beckman, treasurer.

Steiner, who also serves as vice chair of the Sanibel Planning Commission, applauded the dedication of previous officeholders Roger Grogman (president) and Doug Babcock (treasurer), who are retiring from the board, and Shelley Greggs (secretary), who remains a board member.

“Under their leadership, CHR made great strides in assuring affordable housing for those living and working on our islands, including raising funds and breaking ground on the new Riverview apartments,” said Steiner. “We’re grateful and inspired to carry their vision forward.”

Joining the CHR board are Arlene Mowry and Pam Rosen.

Arlene Mowry

A native of Boston, a graduate of Indiana State University, and a 10-year resident of Sanibel, Mowry is a retired teacher and fitness business owner. She and her husband, Scott, have two sons. Mowry was a founding member of the Laconia (N.H.) Educational Endowment Foundation, raising funds for learning opportunities for students and teachers. Since retiring to Sanibel, she has been a trustee of the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum and Aquarium, a volunteer in the Museum Store, and a frequent volunteer at other nonprofits and community events.

Pam Rosen

Rosen and her husband, Jon, fell in love with Captiva Island during a visit 13 years ago. They made it their permanent home in 2022. Mother to two sons, Rosen is an active member of the community, serving as a board member and president of the Captiva Civic Association and a member of the 100 Women group under the Charitable Foundation of the Islands. Rosen cited the crucial need for affordable housing as a motivation for joining CHR’s board.

CHR Executive Director Nicole McHale said she is eager to work alongside the board’s new members and officers on the organization’s mission.

“CHR is blessed with passionate leaders who embrace our vision and strive to make it real every day,” she said.
