City Council honored eight city employees for their exemplary service to the City and the community.
The Employee Service Awards Recognition Program recognizes employees for five, 10, 15, and 20 years of service with a City pin that has the number of service years inscribed on the pin, and an achievement certificate. Council recognized and congratulated the following staff members for their dedicated and loyal service:
Employee Service Award 1st Quarter, Fiscal Year 2024
1. John Juzkiw, Wastewater Plant Operator III – 20 Years (Date of Hire: 10/20/2003)
2. Kenneth Sutton, Police Sergeant – 20 Years (Date of Hire: 12/08/2003)
Employee Service Award 2nd Quarter, Fiscal Year 2024
1. Kyle Eckert, Police Officer – 5 Years (Service Date: 2/25/2019)
2. Anna Hicks, Deputy City Clerk – 5 Years (Hire Date: 3/18/2019)
3. Christine Hodges, Lead Dispatcher – 5 Years (Service Date: 1/14/2019)
4. Franklin Rocha, Tradesworker – 5 Years (Hire Date: 2/22/2019)
5. Jonathan Smith, Police Lieutenant – 20 Years (Hire Date: 2/16/2004)
Together, these employees represent 80 years of service to the community.
Council also recognized the Employee of the Second Quarter, Virjinia Centeno of the Sanibel Police Department. Centeno was hired April 23, 2019, as a Police Aide. On November 1, 2021, she was promoted to dispatcher where she successfully completed training and obtained her 9-1-1 Telecommunication Certification, making her eligible for promotion to her current position of Senior Dispatcher on April 2, 2022. Centeno is currently in the City’s tuition assistance program and is enrolled at Florida Southwestern State where she is pursuing an Associate’s Degree in Crime Scene Technology. She aspires to become a Certified Law Enforcement Officer and Detective.
