Sanibel Mayor Mike Miller reads a proclamation honoring the Sanibel Captiva Community Bank

At the Sanibel City Council’s meeting on December 2 Mayor Mike Miller read a Proclamation to recognize Sanibel Captiva Community Bank (SanCap Bank) for its significant achievements.

SanCap Bank was founded in 2003 through the efforts of Craig Albert and is one of the only locally owned and operated community banks in Southwest Florida. The bank has grown to nine locations throughout Lee County and is nationally ranked as a top performing community bank.

The bank has total assets of more than $1 billion, $850 million in deposits, $879 million in loans, more than 15,000 customers, and employs 130 team members. The bank generates one of the highest returns on equity of all Florida banks.

The bank reinvests nearly every dollar it takes in, which allows the bank to drive the local economy by lending to local businesses starting up, companies expanding their footprint, and families purchasing homes.

Since 2003, SanCap Bank has donated more than $5 million to local community organizations and causes. Annually, more than 1,000 employee volunteer hours are donated to causes contributing to the betterment of the community, and 20 percent of bank employees serve in leadership roles in local nonprofit organizations.
