There was a packed house at the City Chat with Sanibel Mayor Mike Miller, City Manager Dana Souza, and Deputy City Manager/Chief Financial Officer Steve Chaipel at the October 24 event at the Sanibel Recreation Center.
Many attendees said they were there to learn about the city in general and to meet city officials. Others had specific topics they wanted to discuss and were afforded the opportunity to sit with the appropriate official to discuss them.
City Chat was well attended on October 24 at the Sanibel Recreation Center, part of City Week, sponsored by Florida League of Cities
“This is the fourth event we’ve hosted during City Week, sponsored by the Florida League of Cities, of which our Vice Mayor Holly Smith is president, to communicate better what cities do for communities,” Miller said.
City Manager Dana Souza added, “The idea of this is not for us to present lots of things to you, but to have sidebar meetings with you.
“This is going to continue throughout the season when more people get back,” Souza continued. “Not everyone wants to get up at a Council meeting, so this gives them a chance to talk to us.”
