City Reminds Residents of Useful LCEC Tool For Power Outages

SC Staff Report

The City of Sanibel reminds residents that as storm season begins, Lee County Electric Cooperative has the mobile app and online tool SmartHub, which can be used for reporting power outages and receiving notifications when power is restored.

This reminder came after approximately 2,000 customers lost power on Thursday, July 23, in the Tarpon Bay Road area. The outage also effected City Hall on Dunlop Road.

Additionally, LCEC provides an outage management map that can be used to view areas experiencing power outages by zip code, region or county. Customers can also see the number of customers impacted and if a crew has been assigned.

With the start of storm season, LCEC provides tips on preparing your home and property to reduce damage. The most important precaution is protecting areas where wind can enter. LCEC also highly recommends preparing a family disaster plan and kit. Get more home and property preparedness tips on the LCEC website.
