Council Votes to Increase Non-Resident Rec Center Fees

by SC Reporter Emilie Alfino

The Sanibel Recreation Center fees for all island residents will remain the same until the next user fee analysis, which is done every two to five years.

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee performed a two-year review at the June 26, 2025, meeting, and decided to ask the council to increase all non-resident Recreation Center membership fees to double the resident fee.

“Resident” in terms of Recreation Center membership qualifications is any Sanibel and/or unincorporated Lee County property owner.

The fees are:
• Resident Individual Daily $8
• Resident Individual Monthly $20
• Resident Individual Annual $220
• Resident Family Daily $10
• Resident Family Monthly $35
• Resident Family Annual $300
• Non-Resident Individual Daily $16
• Non-Resident Individual Monthly $40
• Non-Resident Individual Annual $440
• Non-Resident Family Daily $20
• Non-Resident Family Monthly $70
• Non-Resident Family Annual $600

The 10-punch pass option was eliminated due to minimal usage. Rental fees for the skate park and water slide are stricken as those amenities have exceeded their useful lives and are no longer in service or available for rental.
