‘Dark Waters’ Film Showing at Shell Point on Earth Day

provided to The Santiva Chronicle

Just as Rachel Carson’s book “Silent Spring” was the stimulus for the first Earth Day 54 years ago, Rob Bilott’s book “Exposure” and the film about it, “Dark Waters,” was the impetus to the action by the EPA on April 10, 2024 requiring municipal water suppliers to eliminate some of the PFAS chemicals in the water consumed by 100 million Americans each day, savings lives.

“Dark Waters” is being shown by the Shell Point Green Team at 10 a.m. Monday, April 22 in the Tribby Arts Center theater, 17281 On Par Blvd., Fort Myers. Everyone is welcome.

Since these so-called “forever chemicals” are in everything from stain-, grease-, and water-resistant clothing and furniture to cosmetics, dental floss, non-stick pans, food packaging, and soil, as well as water, the Green Team will offer information on how to minimize your exposure to them.
