The city’s Employee of the Quarter program has been in place for 25 years now. It recognizes four employees per year for their efforts or accomplishments that resulted in exceptional customer service or support, a heroic action or humanitarian deed, or some other significant act, achievement, or accomplishment.
From those four honorees, one is named Employee of the Year. Detective Michelle Rose, who was selected as Employee of the Second Quarter, and now, with her selection as Employee of the Year, joins a very select group of 21 other employees who have received the distinct honor.
Detective Rose was hired as a police officer in 2017 and promoted to detective in 2025. Before her employment with the city, she honorably served in the U.S. Army National Guard. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Science and Criminal Justice and has received numerous commendations during her tenure with the Sanibel Police Department.
Detective Rose has been the sole detective for the Sanibel Police Department since March 1, 2025. In that short time, she has investigated 102 cases ranging from burglaries and death investigations to thefts and frauds. She has become a crusader for spreading the message to the community on how to protect themselves from becoming victims of economic crime.
The city recognized the three other staff members who received Employee of the Quarter awards in 2025:
• Brian Dye, Software & GIS Systems Manager, IT Department
• Patti Hotton, HR Generalist, HR Department
• Joe Gudinas, Chief Wastewater Operator, DPW
