‘Domicile Day,’ a monthly seminar series on establishing Florida residency, domicile status and estate planning hosted by Florida Trust Wealth Management, continues Thursday, Jan. 22.
The Domicile Day seminar will be held from 1-2 p.m. at Florida Trust’s office at the Bell Tower in Fort Myers, 13525 Bell Tower Drive. The session will also be simulcast at Florida Trust’s Sanibel office, 2450 Periwinkle Way.
Each monthly session explains how to establish Florida residency, domicile status and corresponding estate planning. Attendees will also learn about tax, asset protection and creditor benefits of Florida domicile.
The program begins with a presentation and Q&A session led by Florida Trust team members alongside guest presenter and local estate planning attorney Jennifer Hammond. Presenters will stay following the presentation to answer additional individual questions.
Part-time and seasonal Florida residents may visit with presenters about their residency status, protecting their assets and how to maintain their domicile status if displaced by a hurricane or other major event.
“Florida residency and domicile are not synonymous,” said Megan Marquardt, CFP®, CFTA, Fort Myers president of Florida Trust Wealth Management. “Many new homeowners overlook this critical distinction, even though it has meaningful implications for taxes, estate planning and applicable laws. A clear understanding of domicile can help safeguard assets and prevent costly missteps. We encourage anyone new to Florida or considering a move to attend a domicile session to gain clarity and confidence.”
Seating is limited and registration is required. To register, contact Andrea McKiddie at amckiddie@floridatrust.com or 239-472-8300.
Florida Trust Wealth Management is also offering personalized, confidential consultations about Florida residency status, estate planning or wealth management needs.
