Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation’s Paul McCarthy Memorial Lecture will feature “The New Yorker” staff writer and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Elizabeth Kolbert on Feb. 15.
In the early 2000s, Kolbert began reporting on the increasingly devastating effects of climate change. Since then, she has earned the distinction of being one of the most prolific writers assessing the future of our environment. She has traveled across the globe, gathering scientific fieldwork, and turning it into award-winning and captivating prose.

Kolbert is best known for her book “The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History,” which won the 2015 Pulitzer Prize for its insightful examination of how human behavior is on the verge of causing a mass extinction. Her latest book, “H Is for Hope,” will be published next month.
In an engaging conversation with SCCF CEO James Evans, Kolbert will share why she sees cause for hope as they discuss the history of climate change and the uncertainties of our future. A half-hour Q&A with the audience will follow.
