FISH of SANCAP is adding a team competition to its ‘JOG N JAM’ 5K and 10K races. Runners can create a team of friends, family, or colleagues for a chance to win a team award.
Runners must sign up to a part of a team during the entry process. The deadline for team signups is 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 – no entries or modifications will be accepted after the deadline.
Anyone already registered but wishing to create or join a team can contact Mark at Lin-Mark Sports, the timer and registrar of the races, with your name and the team.
“We are excited to make this addition and celebrate team spirit at the starting line,” said JOG N JAM Committee Co-Chair Leah Winkler.
“We are looking forward to all teams – seasoned runners, family teams, or colleagues looking for a fun fitness challenge – participating in the new team competition. Register today, build your team, and let’s make this year the most competitive and fun race yet,” said Winkler.
FISH welcomes the teams that have registered to date. They are Capital Fitness, Doc Ford’s Sanibel, Lexi’s Legion, Lindsey, The Sanctuary Golf Club Foundation, The Sanibel Sisterhood and Tropical Sunrise.

Here is how the race scoring will work:
Top 5 Finishers Scored: Each team can have unlimited participants, but only the top five finishers will be counted for the team’s score.
Chip Time Determines Winner: The chip times of the top five finishers will be added together to produce a total team time. The team with the fastest total chip time will win.
Tiebreaker: In the event of a tie, the team with the best 6th-place finisher will be declared the winner.
One Team Award Per Race: There will be one team award per race, so get your team together and start training!
Dual Eligibility for Awards: Individuals who place in the team scoring are also eligible to win an overall or age group award, so there are plenty of opportunities to celebrate your achievements.
