FISH Gets Box Truck Thanks To Grant From Sanctuary GC Foundation

FISH of SANCAP has been able to acquire a 14-foot box truck thanks to a grant from The Sanctuary Golf Club Foundation, making the jobs of the organization’s hard-working staff and volunteers a little easier.

“We are so thankful to the Foundation for their support in funding for this purchase,” said FISH President & CEO Maggi Feiner. “The box truck – 14-feet long with a hydraulic lift – will help us provide essential supplies like furnishings, rebuilding materials, food and personal hygiene products to disaster survivors and those who live or work on the islands needing a hand up.”

“This truck will allow us to move several thousand pounds of food and other items which we could not do before,” said Feiner.

It may have already been spotted on the road since it’s had a busy first month filling a great need for FISH. Its hauling size has helped cut down on multiple off-island trips already, too. “We’re already seeing how being more efficient will allow us to help more individuals over time,” said Feiner.

The truck was purchased through Sam Galloway Ford and wrapped by Sabal Signs. The Sanctuary GC Foundation logo has a prominent place to showcase its partnership with FISH.

“The Sanctuary Golf Club Foundation is pleased to partner with FISH in our combined efforts to serve the needs of those living and working in our communities,” said Foundation President Lisa Schmidlin. “It gives us great pleasure to know the Foundation grant will service those in need for years to come.”

In addition to allocated funds for the box truck purchase, the Sanctuary GC Foundation provides grant funding to assist Hurricane Ian survivors and those needing assistance with rent or mortgage payments.

FISH is Sanibel and Captiva Islands’ complete wrap-around social service organization serving those who live, work or visit the islands. Its staff are answering all requests for assistance, including long-term Ian recovery needs such as rebuilding supplies and disaster financial assistance. The traditional services are still available, too.

Anyone in need should contact FISH by phone at 239-472-4775. To learn more about FISH’s work, including its response to Hurricane Ian which struck the islands in September 2022, visit its website here or social media pages or contact Executive Director Maria Espinoza.
