FISH of SanCap Offers Summer Childcare & Education Aid

As summer break for Lee County public schools begins June 2nd, FISH of SanCap reminds parents and guardians that assistance may be available for summer childcare programs and after-school care during the academic year. Eligibility for assistance may depend on factors such as financial need and residency; parents and guardians are encouraged to contact FISH of SanCap for specific eligibility requirements.

FISH of SanCap assists families and adults through dedicated programs tailored to specific needs. The Helping Hands program supports families facing financial challenges, employment issues, or unexpected setbacks by providing access to summer and after-school childcare. Meanwhile, the Adult Scholarship Program enables adults pursuing continuing education, certification, or career training to receive aid for tuition, books, and other required educational expenses.

Both programs represent FISH’s commitment to strengthening community stability and long-term advancement by reducing barriers for adults and families. Whether helping parents secure childcare or enabling neighbors to further their education, FISH’s programs connect individuals with support during critical life transitions.

The program assists eligible individuals with tuition, books, certification costs, and other required educational expenses that can create barriers for those already balancing work, housing costs, family responsibilities, and rising living expenses. Eligible adults must be pursuing education opportunities that can improve earning potential, help maintain employment requirements, or open the door to new career paths.

Partial scholarship support for qualifying women is provided by the Zonta Foundation of Southwest Florida. FISH also provides continuing education assistance for eligible individuals of all genders through additional funding sources and community support.

“Education continues to be one of the strongest ways someone can move forward after financial hardship or career setbacks,” said FISH Social Services Director Nitza Lopez. “Many people are underemployed or working multiple jobs while trying to meet continuing education requirements or gain new skills that can help them earn a more stable income. Sometimes a small amount of support makes the difference between giving up and continuing.”
