FISH of SANCAP, United Way Offering Resiliency Roundup Event

FISH of SANCAP, along with its partners Park Royal Hospital and Community Cooperative, will offer a “Resiliency Roundup” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26 at the Sanibel Community Church, 1740 Periwinkle Way. Lunch will be provided and attendees will have the chance to participate in a raffle for exciting prizes.

Mental healthcare providers and others from Lee County will share information and resources to members of the community. FISH will have a booth containing information on their community services, including the Long-Term Recovery program and their mental health initiative.

“We are delighted to bring Lee County resources to Sanibel,” said Manuela Martinez, FISH Disaster Administrative Director. “Since Hurricane Ian, many continue to struggle with trauma related conditions.”

The partners in attendance at the Resiliency Round Up will offer well-being resources, and include
• Center for Progress and Excellence – crisis counseling
• Centerstone/Project Hope – crisis counseling and peer support
• Park Royal Hospital – inpatient care
• SalusCare – inpatient and outpatient care
• Community Cooperative – service/resource connection
• United Way 211 – service/resource connection

Other key participants include Hope Healthcare’s Hope Healing Hearts Program offering grief support; the Dubin Center offering support and resources for caregivers of people with dementia; ReUnite for registration of new program participants and replacement of lost scent kits for existing participants and Beesley’s Paw Prints offering emotional support.

Additionally, FISH continues to offer “Mental Health Wednesdays” by appointment between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Saint Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church, 2304 Periwinkle Way, in a continued effort to address mental health needs and hurricane-related topics such as PTSD, trauma and loss.

Laura Guarino, MA, LMHC, CBHCMS of community partner SalusCare, leads the 30-minute sessions which must be scheduled in advance by emailing erika@fishofsancap.org. A few walk-in sessions will be available each Wednesday. Sessions will take place in the library of the main building at Saint Michael’s Church.
