F.I.S.H. OF SANCAP is offering the community presentation Recovery At Its Best! A Path to Wellness, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18 at partner Saint Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church, 2304 Periwinkle Way. This seminar, intentionally held during National Recovery Month, will address the cunning, baffling disease of addiction and the joy and freedom of recovery.
Speakers Kat Zilboorg, LCSW BCD CAC LADC, and Matt Zilboorg, MACP, LADC, MAC, will lead the discussion.
“Learning the tools of recovery opens an addict’s world to opportunities to connect with oneself and others in more memorable and rewarding ways. Life becomes something they have only dreamed about,” said Zilboorg.
Each year in September, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration sponsors National Recovery Month, now in its 30th year. A new focus and theme is selected annually to spread the message and share the successes of treatment and recovery. The 2019 Recovery Month theme, “Join the Voices for Recovery: Together We Are Stronger,” emphasizes the need to share resources and build networks across the country that support recovery in all its forms.
“Substance abuse is very prevalent throughout the nation,” said FISH Program Director Kathy Y. Monroe. “The good news is that seeking treatment and surrendering to a more positive, healthy life-style has been said, to be like unlocking a door and entering into not just a room, but a whole new world. We hope you will join us for the very important and eye-opening discussion.“
