For The Record: Sanibel Police Make Two Arrests

Sanibel Police made two arrests from traffic stops this past week.

Oct. 14: Sanibel Police arrested and charged Patrick Fitz of Sanibel with driving under the influence and possession of marijuana. Officers on Causeway Boulevard observed a vehicle approaching the curfew checkpoint at a high rate of speed. Officers were able to stop the vehicle before it rant the checkpoint. Fitz was released from Lee County Jail and is awaiting his court hearing.

Oct. 14: Police arrested and charged Christian Caraballo of Cape Coral with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. Police stopped Caraballo’s vehicle for excessive speed and noticed the smell of marijuana. Officers found 31.8 grams of marijuana in Caraballo’s vehicle. Caraballo was also cited for speeding and unknowingly driving with a suspended license. Caraballow was released from Lee County Jail and is awaiting his court hearing.

After Hurricane Milton, the police department assisted with safety assessments, residential well-being checks, and curfew checkpoints until normal operations were resumed.
