S. Albert D. Hanser, Founder and Chairman of The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company has announced the retirement of Phyllis Gibson, Vice President, Client Services and Trust Administration after seven years. Gibson has been responsible for managing the daily trust needs of dozens of Sanibel-Captiva and Lee County clients since joining the firm in 2012.

“Phyllis has been a vital member of our Sanibel team,” said Hanser. “She is a consummate professional with outstanding interpersonal skills, who treats those in her charge more like family members than clients. Although she will be missed in the office, we look forward to seeing her often as a neighbor and friend.”

Gibson’s financial career spanned more than 20 years, including serving as a branch operations manager for both Morgan Stanley and Legg Mason Wood Walker. She also worked for Sungard Data Systems as their conversion support leader.

Phyllis moved to Captiva in 1991 and has given back to the community by serving on several boards and committees. She is currently a board director of the Bailey-Matthew’s National Shell Museum. She was also board secretary of the Captiva Island Yacht Club and Commissioner of the Captiva Fire Control District.

“Working with everyone at the Trust Company has been a wonderful experience,” said Gibson. “The camaraderie and support of my teammates, as well as the precious relationships with clients here is one of a kind.”

Gibson and her husband plan to become winter residents in Sanibel and spend their summers in the Appalachian Mountains of Georgia where they established a home and long-time friends.
