Trailways Camps, Inc. provides camping experiences for adults with unique support needs and overnight respite for their caregivers.
Grampy’s Charities will launch a $50,000 in 50 Days match campaign from Mary 26 to July 14 in support of additional camp sessions at Trailways.
“We seek to fill the void – approximately 1000 adults exit from special education services in the five-county area each year and have few opportunities for participation in community life,” said Trailways Co-founder and Board Chair Jerry Miller.
“More camp sessions are needed for these adults to participate in the healthy, safe, and fun-filled activities provided at camp. Prior campers now have a waiting time of six to seven years,” Miller said.
Grampy’s Charities President Jim Castle is well aware of the needs of children and adults with disabilities. “We will match every donation to Trailways Camp during the campaign, dollar for dollar, up to $50,000 to help reach an incredible $100,000 goal,” he said.
Donations will support two additional camp sessions, enriching the lives of 28 new applicants and reducing the wait time for 12 prior campers to return.
Participation in the campaign means a gift will go twice as far in bringing life-changing camp experiences to adults with special needs. More information is available at www.trailwayscamps.org/give.
