Hank Glass Retires From St. Michael After 68 Years of Making Music

After 68 years of church music ministry, Director of Music and Organist of Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church Hank Glass will retire on Easter Sunday, April 4.  It will be the first time the church resumes in person worship (with limited seating by registration) since the pandemic broke out in March of 2020. This past year, Glass ensured music was a part of the church’s livestreamed and recorded services online.

Having doubled the size of the Parish Choir and brought the music program to a critically acclaimed level of performance, Glass has served Saint Michael Church for the last 10 years. Many instrumentalists have been introduced to the Parish along with special recitals and music programs.

Glass has played organ recitals throughout the country and is featured in Harry J. Winterton’s book “Notable Organs and Organists of the World”, located in the Library of Congress, Washington, DC.  Glass began his career as Assistant Cathedral Organist and Choirmaster of Christ Church Cathedral, Saint Louis, Mo.  In his retirement he plans to enjoy camping with his wife Jeanie and traveling to see family and friends.
