Christmas on the Beach, a special sale of hand-made accessories, art and other treats including unique beachwear is coming to Sanibel on Saturday, December 14, 1:00-3:30 p.m. at St. Michael & All Angels Church, 2304 Periwinkle Way.
The event is a fundraiser for Healing Stitches, part of a Fort Myers-based non-profit that provides education and instruction for immigrant women, enabling them to become self-sufficient. At Healing Stitches, a program under OILE (Organizacion Internacional de Latinos en el Exterior SWFL, a United Way agency), the women attend classes topics such as sewing, parenting skills, health and nutrition, and legal matters. Many of the women who have been through budgeting classes are now homeowners.
Healing Stitches is a long-time partner with the Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva, which raises funds to assist non-profits whose mission mirrors Zonta’s own, making life better for women and girls. The club has provided teachers and mentors for clients of Healing Stitches and, through its foundation, has awarded annual grants since 2018.
The event is open to the public at no charge, and refreshments will be available. For more information, visit www.oile.org or www.zontasan
