Stilted Conversation by Renee Chastant

provided to Santiva Chronicle

“Island” is the theme for an exciting new show at the Bailey Homestead beginning in February. Featuring art in diverse media created by members of the Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation and the artists of the Sanibel Captiva Art League, this exhibit spotlights the culture, wildlife, landscape and sea particular to our local environment.

See what “Island” means to local artists as they depict various facets of the surrounding ecosystem and the way of life we strive to protect. Be inspired by depictions of our unique habitat and why its conservation is so important. Residents and seasonal visitors alike will be treated to works focused on diverse Island subjects undertaken in varying styles. Visitors can also enjoy touring the native landscape and garden center of the Preserve.

The public is invited to experience this outstanding exhibit beginning Monday, Feb. 3, through Thursday, April 2, at the Bailey Homestead Preserve, 1300 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel. Hours for viewing are Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to noon; Saturdays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Artists donate a portion of all art sales to SCCF.
