Zontians and Z-Men getting ready to play at the Volley Against Violence “Peekleball” tournament

There is still time. Register for the Zonta Club’s new fundraiser, Peekleball Volley Against Violence tournament, on Saturday, Dec. 14, and Sunday, Dec. 15, at the Sundial Resort on Sanibel. Join the fun as an individual participant, couple, or team from your island business or organization. The deadline of Monday, Dec. 9, has been extended one day to Tuesday, Dec. 10.

Organizer Barbara Beran says just a few more participants are needed to guarantee a great day out for islanders. All proceeds will be distributed in local grants to organizations that align with Zonta’s mission, to build a better world for women and girls, to halt gender-based violence and to aid victims of the same.

The tournament, named for Zonta SanCap’s “Peek at the Unique” home tour, promises to be fun and memorable, with pickleball play at all levels, pickleball-related sales, auctions and giveaways, an honor guard from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the county’s ICRT (Ice Cream Response Team) with free ice cream, and photo opportunities with Robbie the RoboDog.

Sponsors include Sundial Resort & Spa, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Selkirk Sport, Tunaskin, Engage Pickleball, CPX Pickleball, Paddletek, PickleBelle, Rauch Brands, Sanibel Carts, On Island, and Kingfisher Real Estate. To register, go to Zonta’s Volley Against Violence or to the link on Zonta’s website.
