LCEC Leads Massive Collaborative Effort To Restore Power in SWFL

As part of an extensive effort to restore power to customers across Southwest Florida, LCEC has received mutual aid from 48 states, and the Virgin Islands. These boots on the ground comprised of 1,300 line workers from electric cooperatives, and an army of contractors, vendors, suppliers, and hundreds of support personnel.

The constant flow of resources from outside the region has been continuous. LCEC crews and additional support were pre-staged throughout the LCEC service territory before the arrival of Hurricane Milton. The proactive preparations allowed crews to respond promptly and begin assessments immediately after the storm passed.

“We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support from across the country. The dedication of these teams to help us restore power in our community is truly humbling,” said CEO, Denise Vidal. “The collaborative spirit between cooperatives, municipalities, and the entire industry has been remarkable. We will continue to work around the clock to restore service as quickly and safely as possible.”

LCEC extends immense gratitude to the crews, agencies, and support personnel who have traveled great distances to assist in the power restoration process, as well as SWFL communities for their continued patience and resilience during this challenging time.
