The Santiva Chronicle publishes opinions and letters on topics that are important to Sanibel and Captiva. They may be submitted via e-mail at news@santivachronicle.com. Views expressed are not necessarily those of the Santiva Chronicle.
The City Council has published a list of the 13 candidates who are interested in the two interim Council seats. We would like to highly recommend Robyn Cook, a full-time Sanibel resident, who has owned a home on Sanibel since 2010, and has extensive experience in local government, which is an extremely important qualification for any City Council seat. Robyn, having previously been an integral part of city governance, truly understands and appreciates the issues that are involved in the infrastructures that comprise city government. She can immediately tackle the problems Sanibel must deal with, particularly during this stressful time, and she will be available 12 months a year, as she is not a part-time Sanibel resident, as so many others are.
Many full-time residents are concerned that their voices are not heard, and we know Robyn will do all that is possible to serve the needs of these citizens, as well as being aware of the business interests of our community.
Many have graciously served on the City Council and done their best during their terms to meet everyone’s needs. We have an opportunity now to hear a new, experienced and intelligent voice, as well as expand the diversity & vitality of our City Council.
We sincerely hope you will select Robyn Cook as one of the two new interim Council members.
Sincerely,
Daniel Drucker & Sandra Greco
Harvey & Nancy Padewer
Stan & Visnja Gembicki
Roger & Sylvia Heider
Bob & Pam Terry
